Capung Art Studios
Capung Art Studios was founded in 1998 in Ubud Bali, precisely in the village of Sanggingan Ubud which in Ubud is famous for art and culture is still thick and natural. Dragonfly Art Studios is a special studio that teaches about the making of silk painting which is silk material. Because the material of the sutra requires a special skill, because of the complexity and processing of painting on the silk is quite difficult.
n Capung Art Studios for our operators are all experienced and know the ins and outs of how to make a painting on silk cloth. In Capung Arts Studios will be taught how to paint a sketch that has been prepared. For classes in Capung Art Studios is divided into 2 packages of adult classes and children’s classes ranging from 8 years old to 84 years old.

Batik Process
Silk fabric is placed over a master velum sketch and is traced with pencil. ( Later to be tjanted )
Tjanting tools, made from wood, copper and brass, are used with hot wax in the traditional way.
Once the wax is heated and has melted, the dipper is filled with wax and the spout dispenses the wax onto the fabric, following the detailed pencil line.
All students get to give tjanting a try on a sample piece of Silk.
No … it’s not as easy as it looks!
Everyone then receives a pre – tjanted 60 x 60 cm. square of stretched Silk on a frame to paint themselves.
No artistic talent is required – which is a relief for many newcomers.
The tools used to paint the silk projects are bamboo sticks wrapped with dacron quilting fiber.
They make wonderful, durable brushes, great for blending the colored dyes.
In the painting process we have a nice palette of colors, the last section to paint is the background.
After the projects are completed, they are sun-dried and boiled the next day, setting the colored dyes also, making them colorfast and also a bit lighter than when painted.
Projects will be ready for pickup or delivery 24 hours or so after class ends.
